Our Story
Johary Aquaculture was founded in 2015 with a simple vision: to transform aquaculture in Tanzania through innovation, quality, and farmer empowerment. What started as a small operation has grown into one of the region's most respected aquaculture facilities.
Our founder, Machochi Chekanabo, recognized the tremendous potential of intensive aquaculture in Kigoma Kwaga. With careful planning and strategic investment, we established a state-of-the-art facility featuring 120 high-density tanks, each capable of producing premium fish at commercial scale.
Today, Johary Aquaculture operates with a team of dedicated professionals committed to maintaining the highest standards of fish quality, animal welfare, and environmental responsibility. Our 95% survival rate and industry-leading Feed Conversion Ratio of 1.4 reflect our commitment to excellence.
Beyond production, we're passionate about sharing knowledge. Since 2018, we've trained 14 farmers through our comprehensive hands-on programs, helping them establish their own successful operations. This commitment to farmer education is central to our mission of advancing aquaculture across Tanzania.
